Yangon – Loikaw – Yangon (4Days / 3Nights)
Day1: Yangon – Loikaw
Today, you’ll go to airport with your own arrangement.
The flight will depart from Yangon at 10:00AM and arrive Loikaw at 10:50AM.
Upon arrival, you’ll transfer to your hotel. (Official check-in time is 14:00PM and early check in is subjected to room availability).
This afternoon, we’ll visit Kayah State Cultural Museum to discover some detail on the tribes of Kayah State, as well as their varying traditional dresses and weaponry; perhaps its most interesting feature is the central totem pole that is also a major feature of many of Kayah villages, an animist tradition pre-dating Buddhism or Christianity. (Note: Museum is closed on Mondays and public holidays.)
Afterwards, we’ll visit Natural Dyeing workshop. In here, you can learn about how to dye Kayah traditional fabric and clothes with the use of flowers, leaves and fruits.
Then, head to Taung Gwe Pagoda to enjoy the sunset and panoramic view of Loikaw.
Overnight in Loikaw.
Day2: Loikaw – Hta Nee La Leh (Kayah Community) – Loikaw
After breakfast, you’ll take 30minutes drive to visit Hta Nee La Leh village where the home of Kayah Communty.
Upon arrival, you’ll visit Community Centre. Then, you’ll visit the Kayhtoebo site and Hunting Shrine, to learn about local beliefs and spiritual life. In addition, you’ll visit the Lotus Pond. This is a sacred and scenic site. Here, you’ll listen to the local legend of Tsudanu, a prince and princess who finally ascend to heaven as mythical Kinaree birds.
Enjoy a delicious Kayah Barbecue lunch with cultural exchange at local home.
This afternoon, you’ll visit a local musician’s house, listen to traditional Instruments and try your hand playing them. Then, you’ll also visit another house to learn about traditional Kayah dress.
Afterwards, you’ll transfer back to your hotel where remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Overnight in Loikaw.
Day3: Loikaw – Pan Pet (Kayan Community) – Loikaw
After breakfast, you’ll take an one hour drive to Pan Pet Village where the home of Kayan Community (long neck women).
On arrival, you are welcomed in a local home where you will enjoy a hot drink and a simple, local snack. Next, you will set off on a moderately challenging trek, through lush, shady, forest. After a short climb (30-40 minutes), you’ll enjoy over 3 hours of continual, great views. En route, local guides will show various edible plants and herbal medicines which are used by community members in their ‘jungle larder.’
A highlight of the trip is arriving at the original settlement of Pan Pet, perched on a mountain top, where evidence of past habitation is visible. This is considered one of the first Kayan settlements of Kayah state.
Enjoy jungle picnic lunch on the way.
The trek ends in Rang Ku hamlet, where guests can meet the famous Kayan people (also known as Long Neck Karen), who are a symbol of Kayah state. Enjoy learning a few words of Kayan language and interacting with these fun-loving and artistic people. There are also opportunities to buy local handicrafts.
Afterwards, you’ll transfer back to your hotel where remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Overnight in Loikaw.
Day4: Loikaw – Yangon
After breakfast, this morning is your leisure at hotel.
In the afternoon, you’ll transfer to Loikaw airport for your domestic flight to Yangon.
The flight will depart from Loikaw at 13:45PM and arrive Yangon at 14:35PM.
